Paloma Negra

Paloma Negra
Vocalist • Songwriter • Composer

Paloma Negra is a Calgary-based Mexican singer, songwriter, and composer whose music transcends borders and genres. Rooted in the traditions of Mariachi yet infused with her own fearless originality, Paloma creates what she calls “music without gender” — songs that speak to love, resilience, identity, and the universal right to be heard.

Her musical journey began at the age of 13, performing with groups such as Cazadores, La Química, Milady, and Proyecto R. After moving to Canada, Paloma became a proud member of Alma Mexicana, a primarily women-led Mariachi band, giving her space to challenge the gendered barriers of the genre while amplifying her own authentic voice.

With over 15 years of experience, Paloma has graced stages from Calgary to Ottawa, Montreal, and Vancouver and throughout Mexico. Her debut LP, Ventana del Alma, features collaborations with members of Latin Grammy–nominated Mariachi Imperial Azteca, and her artistry has been recognized through nominations as Album of the year in the world/cultural music recording category, a Latin Awards Canada nomination and competitions with CBC Music.

Paloma’s performances are as much acts of healing and cultural pride as they are concerts. Her voice carries both vulnerability and strength, weaving her lived experiences into music that empowers and uplifts. By honoring her roots while reimagining tradition, she embodies the transformative power of art to both preserve heritage and create new possibilities.

At the Mystic Moonlight Masquerade Gala & Ball, Paloma Negra will invite audiences into her world — where every song is a window to the soul, every note an act of defiance and celebration, and every performance a bridge between cultures, identities, and communities.
