Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary Region

Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary Region (CMHA Calgary) is a community-based mental health organization serving Calgary and area. We provide accessible, recovery-focused programs and services that support mental wellness, stability, connection and personal growth.

Our work includes peer support, housing and outreach, mental health education, recovery-focused learning, service navigation and community-based programs. Through partnerships and support from donors, funders and volunteers, we work to reduce barriers and help people find the right support at the right time.

For more than 70 years, CMHA Calgary has evolved alongside the community. What began with a focus on mental health awareness and advocacy has grown into a broader continuum of support that recognizes the connection between mental wellness, housing, belonging, education and access to care.

Our Mission

Promoting resilient and mentally healthy communities through wellness and recovery-oriented supports and services.

Our Vision

A thriving Calgary and area community where mental wellness is everyone’s foundation.

Our Approach

Mental health is not only about responding to a crisis. It is also about prevention, connection, stability and creating the conditions people need to live well.

CMHA Calgary’s work is organized around a continuum of support:

Live:
Meeting basic needs and creating stability.

Learn: Building skills, knowledge and connection.

Thrive: Supporting recovery, growth and well-being.

This approach recognizes that people do not experience mental health in isolation. Effective community mental health support must also consider housing, relationships, financial pressures, access to resources and opportunities for meaningful connection.
